About Wing and Clay

A heritage standard for shotgun sports.

Wing and Clay was founded by competitive shooters and NSCA-certified coaches who were tired of finding lodges, schools, and sporting clays operations buried inside generic outdoor marketplaces — judged by the same review system as a chain hotel.

We started shooting at every operator on this list because we wanted somewhere to send our friends. We built the Endorsement because we wanted that judgment to be honest, public, and earned.

Decades of combined time on the NSCA registered tour and behind students. The team sets every Endorsement criterion and shoots every operator before they're listed.

The Field Editors

Working journalists and lodge writers who spend roughly 140 days a year on the road and write the lodge dispatches in the journal.

What we stand for

Four values, in this order.

Conservation

Healthy birds and healthy ground come first. Every Endorsed operator works with — and is reviewed against — the conservation organizations doing the work.

Coaching

Wing and Clay was built around instruction. Our standard for an Endorsement begins with the quality of teaching at the gun.

Craft

Gun-fit, station-craft, dog work, lodge keeping. Craft is the through-line that separates a memorable trip from a forgettable one.

Community

Shooters who care about the next generation, the next season, and the next bird. Plain spoken, generous, and patient.
